1) Anastasia Cazabon is an American photographer and filmmaker from Boston. The photos I chose are from a series called Stories. In all of these photos, the subjects face is never shown. She alternates photos taken indoors and outdoors. All of the subjects are young women.
2) Cazabon creates narratives of private moments and makes the mundane exciting through her use of mystery and surreal. Her inspiration is drawn from memories, fairy tales, and dreams. In this series, Cazabon explores the theme of young women in fairy tales constrained in their environments and their desire to break free.
3) I am really attracted to her work because of the surreal look and mystery she creates. I like how her images allow the viewer to make up their own stories about the characters because there is little information as to who these characters are or how they got to where they are.
