Paul Graham is a photographer who created took these photos for a piece named "The Present". His subjects were ordinary people walking in New York on the street and what is going on around them. The photographs shows the viewpoints of American society today and is recording history.
Graham wanted to show the shift of the focus in the photos. There are two different pictures showing the sequence and shift that happens over a certain period of time. The main focus in the photos may be different in the next few minutes, which can change the meaning completely.
I was intrigued when I saw Graham's work because of the realness it showed. Photos of people's lives has always been interesting to look at for me. And for him to show the viewpoints just moments apart is fascinating. It shows the history of the places and makes you wonder about everyone and their lives--why they're doing this or that, where they're going, etc.
