Sandro Giordano

Sandro Giordano

What are the artist's technical choices?

In each of his photographs, Sandro uses various props and models to create a scene of chaos. His models seem to have fallen in each of his compositions, where they are surrounded by objects, allowing the photo to generate its' own story. An abundance of color and personality is used, holding the viewer's attention and stirring his or her curiosity.

What are the artist's conceptual and/or thematic intents?

Sandro's photographs seem to capture the struggle and reality of every day life. Whether it's your birthday, you are cooking dinner for your family, or working at your job, the possibility of life's darkness engulfing you is always present. Embarrassment, heartache, stress, depression; these are all feelings that can eat you alive at any moment, any time of the day. I believe Sandro wanted to combine the characteristics that you could find in an every day photo with those of the dark side of what every human being has thought, felt, or done at some point in their life.

How do you respond to these choices and intents?

I quite enjoy these photographs because each of them creates a story for the viewer that allows them to decide what they believe to be going on. Each photograph is very definite, yet leaves wiggle room for interpretation. What I like most about them is that if you were to just glance at them for a quick second, they may excite happy feelings. The colors, the props, even the people are very bright and enticing. Yet, as you continue to look at them, they bring about very different, deeper feelings. I love that Sandro is able to create thoughts of happiness and darkness all in the same second. And I also love that each composition can relate to many viewers in many ways.
