Catherine Meadows Weekly Post #13

Angelo Merendino is a freelance photographer from Cleveland, Ohio. He works for both Corbis News and Getty Images. Angelo's photographs have been displayed in New York City, DC, and Rome. Recently his photo-documentary has been all over the internet. The story is of Angelo Merendino's wife and her fight with breast cancer. Angelo decided to take pictures of her battle against cancer. He captured every single moment, from the laughs they shared to the hospital visits they had to take. He captured the loss of her hair while going through chemotherapy. And the sadness and stress that they felt throughout the fight. He showed what looked like her dad coming to visit for support. I think that the most powerful images were the ones towards the end that included the empty hospital bed, the drive home he took from the hospital, and the grave. I thought that Angelo's photographs were incredibly moving. While it was sad to look through them, I still enjoyed it. The way he captured only candid shots of her kept it more real and personal. I also liked how each picture was in black and white. It makes it more elegant and enjoyable to look at. I only included just a few pictures from his whole album so I suggest going and looking at the entire collection.
