Hank Willis Thomas is an African-American visual artist and photographer living and working in New York City. Mr. Thomas' work has been featured in a large list of museums from the Guggenheim to the Whitney to the Museum of Modern Art. His main interests are race, identity, popular culture, visual culture and the body.
As Mr. Thomas makes his art mainly about the African American culture, he displays the work in a way that visually captures his audience. I was fortunate to stumble across this amazing artwork. He chooses different skin tones to symbolize unity and togetherness; no matter what, we are all human beings and he shows the beauty of our different skin tones. Mr. Thomas mainly does his artwork in color. However, it appears to me, if he wants to capture the attention of his audience, he might choose whatever colors suits the photo best to tell a unique story.
Mr. Thomas’ artwork is inspiring! I love the meaning behind his artwork. He tells a story while taking amazing pictures! If there was anything I could take from these photos, it would be to grasp the concept of unity in one photo.
