Historic Theaters
The photos taken above by Stefanie Klavens are all architectural photographs out of her portfolio "Historic Theaters". However there are some shots taken of the inside of these beautiful buildings the ones that stood out to me were the ones she took of the outside. In each photo she really captures the personality of each building. Something she did that I really enjoyed is how they are all taken at night when the lights are turned on. I personally think if she would have taken them during the day it wouldn't have captured their nature. In all of her photos the color of the buildings really pop and catch my eye immediately and it does a stellar job of portraying the flashy characteristics of these buildings.
Klavens is an artist who loves to bring light to things that have been lost in our up and coming age. In this portfolio of "Historic Theaters" she has taken photos that has brought the publics attention to many theaters that are rapidly disappearing. The beauty of these theaters are no longer found in new bulky cement structures that almost seem to "pop up" over night.
Things that I would love to add to my own photos from Klavens would be how she captures the essence of the buildings in her photos by taking them at a certain time. Also the use of color in her photos just make them really almost bounce off the screen. I really enjoy her simplistic style and she just executes her subject matter extremely well.
