Aimee Bruce Weekly Post 9#

Vassilis Tangoulis is an academic professor and a fine arts photographer. He has received international award for his black and white long exposure images. When examining the image above, one can assume that Vassilis is using an aperture of about F22-F45 because there is a profound depth of field. In order to have a decent exposure he would have to slow down his shutter speed to roughly about 1/8-1/2 of a second. Based on that fact, the viewer can arrive at the idea that Vassilis is using a tripod.

Each of these images were chosen from different sections of Vassilis's portfolio. About 80% of his photographs are in black and white. One could believe that these black and white high contrast photos put even more emphasis on the absence of color. When the element of color is taken out of the equation, the viewer then has the opportunity to really inspect these images. One could come to the conclusion that these photos show about the same, if not more, detail because of the many variations of gray. Vassilis has the ability to show the viewer a unique perspective of his colorless world.
