Jenna Shouldice grew up just outside of Toronto, spending her winters in the city with friends and my summers in cottage country with books and daydreams. After finishing her degree in psychology, she promptly moved out west where she would go to school again, this time for photography. On her third day in Victoria she met the man who would later become her husband, Tristan.
Jenna has a big love for people, and a strong draw towards women’s issues. Her collections include The Labour Process, birth places, Mama and weddings. To further her birth related work she trained as a Doula in 2011 and spend a lot of time in the birthing community. She is a founding member of ATRIA Collective. Her and her husband travel worldwide to photograph weddings together.
I love her Labour Processes photographs because being pregnant and giving birth is one of the most wonderful experiences in a womans' life. I myself loved being pregnant. I would enjoy photographing the same type of photographs as Jenna.
