Olivia Beard Weekly Post #7

Since I figured our next lesson we will be most likely on Portrait style photographs, I decided to dedicate this week's blog to the infamous Richard Avedon. Born in New York in the 1920s, this man lived to do great things and be extremely successful, until his unfortunate death in 2004, while on an assignment for the New Yorker.

Richard captured very lovely portraits. Allot of his photographs are the famous superstars of the greatest of generations. Some of his captures were of the famous Beetles, Marilyn Monroe, the Presidential Kennedy family, Audrey Hepburn, and Janis Joplin. I love the way he is able to capture the natural, and individualism in each of his models. They do not just appear as famous celebrities, they appear as who they really are. His photographs are mostly in black and white, however, the lack of color does not have any negative effect on the image(s) at all. The use of contrast is phenomenal. The use of light also help accentuate the highlights and shadows of the natural beings. Very gorgeous work is displayed on his website and I definitely recommend visiting this artist's website. You will not regret it.
