MIQUEL LLONCH

This week I have decided to dedicate my blog post to photographer Miquel Llonch. He was born in Barcelona Spain in 1963. He studied at the Institute of Photographic Studies of Catalonia. Llonch began working as a freelance photographer in 1995. With numerous exhibitions and prizes, he has served as inspiration to numerous modern photographers.
I've chosen to feature him as my photographer of the week because I enjoy how he has unusual subjects. Anything from vast cities to the countryside is able to capture his attention. In the pictures above, he presents everyday life from his point of view. His lighting and angles are very interesting to me. Seeing how he is able to capture such magnificent subjects for his projects gives me inspiration as a growing photographer. For more of his work, be sure to visit http://miquelllonch.com/index.html

Cyrus Entezam - Weekly Post 14

Tim Wallace

As a commercial photographer Tim has been able to work with many brands such as Aston Martin, Ferrari, and even Lamborghini. His works have been published in global magazines. Tim has had his creative spark since a young age. He has opened his own business named "Ambientlife" which specializes in corporate and commercial photography. Tim states that, "Photography is for me simply a creative passion, the ability to use light and form to capture in a single image what I see in my imagination..." I feel that I can completely understand his logic, in that photography comes from the imagination and it is the ability to be able to produce what is from our minds into the device in our hands.

Michael Watts Weekly Post #14

Jose Ramos is a 29 year old photographer from Portugal who photographs primarily water and landscapes of his home country.  He says that he is trying to capture and depict his own vision of the world that we live in and is using photography as a tool to do so.  He captures awe inspiring images of countrysides, seascapes, and small towns alike.  His photos contain a vast amount of color and it is clear that he uses longer exposures in many of his pictures.  I chose this photographer for this weeks blog post because he is achieving many of the things that I am hoping to achieve moving into the final project of the year.  His photos have a definite sense of vastness that help the viewer to come closer to experiencing what it is to actually be there.  These are some of the things that i am trying to communicate with my photos moving into the final part of the semester.

Catherine Meadows Weekly Post #14

Catherine Alexander is actually a photography company run by a couple, named Melissa Catherine and Patrick Alexander Beard.  They shoot for weddings, maternity, family portraits, seniors, and military homecomings.  I chose the Military Homecomings as my favorite album from her portfolio.  I always love seeing pictures taken at military homecomings.  I think it's one of the greatest moments to capture.  I love how both Melissa and Patrick got pictures of the before, during, and after part of the homecoming.  They captured the women waiting anxiously, holding their signs, the first hugs that they get when they finally see their loved one again, and them walking away at the end. I've always wanted to go to a military homecoming because I think that the moments you are able to capture would turn out really great.

Olivia Beard Weekly Post #14

This week's blog is all about Pierre Pellegrini and his interesting work. I randomly came upon his work, though his gallery isn't too big, it still has really great photographs. I like that he takes really cool landscape photographs. They seem to be in very empty places, however, there's so much to the picture(s). I like his use of depth of field. His photographs have the appeal of looking as if the background keeps going, and going, and going.

I like his ideas of subjects and backgrounds. I too, enjoy taking landscape photographs and exploring different depths of fields. Looking at Pellegrini's photographs gives me ideas on how to look at a landscape and come up with ways to get more into an image but still have a focal point. He also has a good use of contrast, and his long time exposures are pretty awesome as well, almost like a spooky, foggy appeal. His work is very cool and interesting, I recommend taking a look at his work.

Aimee Bruce Weekly Post 14#

Reinhold Adscheid is a german photographer. He became known for his multiple exposure photography. Reinhold would first capture multiple images of his original shot from slightly different perspectives. He would then super impose these many images on his computer and layer them in order to achieve the photos seen here. Keep this in mind when observing the image above. One would assume that Reinhold's series would need photos with profound depths of field. An F-stop of 16 with a shutter speed of 1/15th of a second would give him decent exposure.

Reinhold Adscheid's concept behind this series is "How would the world be if we could see it from different locations in time and/or space at the same time". This is how he came up with the idea to edit and layer multiple shots of, basically, one image. Some might say that his photos give off the sense of vertigo. This could possibly relate to the idea that the world is this busy, ever-changing place that will pass you by unless you stop to take a look around every now and then.

Alina Lebedeva is one of the most alluring photographers from Russia. Her nude portraits are deeply mesmerizing.

The portraits take by Alina Lebedeva all have a strong emotional appeal. There is so much feeling, longliness, and most beautiful pain in her pictures. Each photograph oozes with the soul of the model, whether it's strength, pain or sorrow the images are dominated by the women's inner emotions.

The lighting and compositions of Alina Lebedeva's photographs help to portray the the thoughts of her subjects, drawing out their souls to be projected through the portraits.

It's interesting how a lot of the woman in her photographs have some clothing on. The partial nudity ads to the appeal and the intrigue.

Brittany Emery Weekly Post 11/18/2013

Despite his unusual last name, Kretschmer in a native-born Californian, based in the city of Los Angeles. His photographic works revolve around everyday metaphors and saying, and also around cleverly tricking the eye of the viewers via subtle photomanipulation. Examples can be found HERE. His work truly has a certain verve, and also an endearing quality. He has been featured in many magazines and advertising companies.

Michael Watts Weekly Post #13

Alberto Seveso is a Photographer/Illustrator from Milan who is well known for his highly stylized and digitally edited photos.  Although he is known for integrating his illustrative talents into photos of models, some of which being celebrities or athletes, this post is about a more abstract series of photos that he has created.  Seveso creates highly abstract visually appealing compositions by combing various colors of ink and letting them flow or drop into containers of water or oil.  The result is surreal and almost unrecognizable.  The ink becomes something more than just ink, it becomes a sculpture suspended in time.  I am interested in this type of photography because much of it involves a relatively fast shutter speed to achieve and that is something that i have not experimented with yet.  Sometime in the near future i will be looking into experimenting with faster shutter speeds to capture still images of things that may have otherwise been full of motion.

Ashly Mollienido's Weekly Post #13

Lee Towndrow is a visual artist based in New York City. He has already done some pretty big jobs, and he's not finished yet. Starting as a designer, Towndrow found his love in photography and film making. I definitely found humor in his collection of photographs.

This is "Kids Take Over", which is so stinking cute. His compositions were perfectly planned, having a good balance of color and lighting, really giving the viewer a sense of a school building. What really was interesting to me was his paper portraits, not to mention he has also photographed my favorite actress, Lena Duham, beautifully. His choice of the color combinations and the placement of his subject gives the viewer a strong relationship between the subject and it's composition. These are just a few, but if you ever have a minute, you should check out his site and look at the rest of the work. His different, sense of vintage, style definitely is shined throughout every image of his.

And of course I couldn't not show his paper portrait of Lena Dunham, my girl from The HBO series called Girls. Season 3 starts in January! Xo
