Brittany Emery - Weekly Post 11/11/2013 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEEEEE

Jo Metson Scott is a United Kingdom photographer whose work caught my eye for its envelope-pushing and its sympathetic qualities. Of all his collections, The Grey Line was the most powerful to me. It tells the stories of soldiers who served overseas and then returned home to struggle with the decisions that had been made while deployed, and also with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The focus of Grey Lines is that there is "dissent", a Before and After. These soldiers no longer feel as strong and patriotic as they first did after dealing with the nightmare of Abu Dhabi and Dubai; many of them regret the actions they took while deployed, and it comes through in these photographs with painful brilliance.
