Henri Cartier Bresson
Henri was born in Chanteloup, Seine-et-Marne. Henri was a surrealist and practiced with the Leica, his camera of his choice. In 1933 the Julien Levy Gallery in New York held his first exhibition of photographs. He also made films with Jean Renoir and was an early user of the 35 mm film format. He helped develop the “street photography” or “real life reportage” style that has influenced generations of photographers who followed. He is known for being the master of candid photography capturing the world around him through his lens.
