Meghan Thayer - Land

This image stood out to me in the "Land" exhibit because of the difference in colors and shades of green. I really felt a conection to the image and some of the interesting facts about where it was taken. The photographer Robert Glenn Ketchum took this image in 1978. It is titled "Jedediah after the rain" and was taken in the Redwood National Park. It was taken to express environmentalist activism. To me, I really thought it was a cool image because it had a lot to do with protecting the forest from human impact.

This image is by the photographer Joel Sternfled, and was taken in Mclean, VA in 1978. I really liked this image because of the business of the image. In the back there is clearly a bad fire, but in the foreground, you see a firefighter picking out a pumpkin. I think it is confusing and interesting all at once. It really makes you question what is happening. It is almost like the people in the foreground are in a completely different zone than the fiasco unfolding in the background.
