Christian Patterson was born in Wisconsin but now resides in New York. He is a self-taught photographer who creates many sorts of images for his books. Though he does not include portraits, his works display both urban and country architecture, and created still-lives incorporating objects ranging from matches to a telephone to a house of cards. He utilizes proper lighting to illuminate the objects with lights and shadows. Patterson also includes drawings, paintings and other small objects in his books.
The pictures shown above are from Christian Pattersons book titled "Redheaded Peckerwood." The title refers to the story of two teenagers who murdered ten people in Nebraska. Patterson loosely implies different aspects as he tries to follow and unveil new information about the story.
In an interview with Patterson he said, "What initially attracted me to
this work was its story – a true crime story involving the heavy themes
of teenage angst, young love, confusion, panic and fear; escape,
violence and death; and ultimately, the loss of innocence." I personally find this work interesting because he opens the door of photography used as both non-fiction and inspired fiction, to show a creators take on what happened.
