ALEC SOTH
1. Alec Sloth is a photographer from Minneapolis, Minnesota. This particular collection of work is called 'The last days of W' and he used an 8 X 10 large format camera. I like the color choice in each photo; you can tell that he planned the time well in the first photo where there is a partial sunset so the light-up deer can be seen. In the second photo the contrast between the red siding and that building next to is really pleasing and is so simple yet interesting. The last photo is a great way to portray motion and he achieved that; also the blue at the bottom of the photograph is bright and a key focal point.
2. Sloth uses an 8 X 10 which makes taking photos time consuming so he really has to plan out each photo so it will come out the way he thinks it should and i think he did a great job, not only with these three photos but with the whole collection. Each photo has its own central theme and its depicted really well.
3. I love the second picture with the red contrast and the building. He planned for a very interesting gradient on the red siding and it came out really well. I chose the little trailer with the sunset and deer because i thought it was charming and quaint; the symbolism in itself is great. And finally the third picture; I really just enjoyed that it brought motion to the frame. He really catches the moment very well.
