1. Ricky Adam took these photos during his project "Edge of Living". He featured what we term squatters living their daily lifestyle. I chose to insert 4 photos with this artist because honestly, I wanted to insert all the photos of this specific project. He focuses on lighting especially and using depth of field often in his work. While doing this, Ricky focuses on one or two main subjects, normally one throughout this project, but this still urges you to entertain the background though and focus on that being included in each viewer's perception of each photograph.
2. Ricky Adam focuses his projects on specific events that are occurring and what the daily routine would encompass. He specifically focused on squatters in this project in one specific area which was interesting to me because I think each viewer will have a different take on each photograph and project depending on where they are from, their own experiences, etc. I really enjoy how he focused in the dog and the male in the first photograph but there's no way to ignore the background. I think he consciously focuses on one or two subjects and then entertain's the idea that maybe the background could help complete the lifestyle of the subject. Ricky Adams also uses close ups to show any imperfections in the photo, maybe because this is also helping to show the imperfections in their lifestyle, day in and day out.
3. I feel very intrigued to learn more about the subjects that Ricky featured because he showed pieces of them throughout the background of the work or features of the subject that revealed much more to you. I think that the people focused on in these photos were entertained while being photographed. I think Ricky Adams probably went out of his comfort zone to take these pictures, especially in some where the cruel reality of some of these people is truly displayed. I think this really shows the harshness of the subject's reality.
