Beth Teller's Weekly Blog

Anna Larson is a documentary photographer. She started to truly get inspired with photography after her third child. Larson now carries a camera with her everyday, even when her and her family are gardening. Larson likes to document life as it is at that very moment. She uses words like classic and natural to remind herself what she aims for when she goes on a shoot. Larson uses a Canon 5d mark ii and uses mostly prime lens. However, when she edits photos she uses actions in Lightroom that mimic a film camera's output (not all the time, but Larson commented that she does often).

To me, these photos are portrait shots. They are of the children in that very moment, doing what they normally do. And that is how I interpret portrait shots. Her photographs seem soft and sweet, even if the subjects aren't showing any emotion. It could be from how she edits, or the angles that she uses. It seems as though Larson uses a wide angle lens for many of her shots.
