Pierre Carreau captures ocean waves with his camera in his
home in the Caribbean. His current work focuses on the paradox between of the
power and fragility of waves. In waves he finds emotions, which he wishes to
carry to his viewers. He sees that each of his wave images speak differently to
viewers depending on the state that they are in. His goal is to “transfer the
waves’ energy to those who view them.”
His work relies heavily on light. The light coming from the
sun at different times of the day changes the entire color scheme of his
subject. All color in his photos is absorbed from the world around him. Water
basically has no color so all that is really seen is the light refractions and
color reflections from his surroundings combined with the grace and majesty of
breaking waves.
