Eikoh Hosoe is known as Japan's notable post war photographer. He is from a Yonezawa, Yamagata and graduated from Tokyo College of Photography in 1954. His first solo exhibition was titled American Girl in Tokyo in 1956.
The three pictures shown are from a series he called Embrace. The photos from the series depict pretty much a study of the human body. The bodies are positioned in erotic positions and the structure of the bodies give similar traits of baroque paintings. Showing strong muscular arms and poses. The poses although seem abstract not showing much, but can be labeled as nude images. I really enjoy the fact that the images show strength in them, even though we only see a fragment of the bodies shown. The position that the bodies are at in the first picture shows eroticism but at the same time strength in the poses that the bodies are holding.
