Karissa Gilbertson post # 14 for 11/16/15
Seamus Murphy is photographer that works in bright colors. He takes the time to capture the foreground rather than the background. He seems to focus allot on red colors. These are from a Collab. book called The Hollow Hand. Some of the works focus around war scenes and the detestation it has.
In these works Murphy focuses on the people. He has a great eye in making every day life fantastic. The fire in the second picture is captured well, but is dulled by the stark contrast of the children playing in the foreground like it's a everyday life to see a fire and for them it is. Devastation is tragic but when they live with it day to day, it becomes a norm which is more tragic.
The woman on the train looks very strong. I have never thought a woman in a sleeping robe to be so powerful a and she looks so strong almost like a queen on the subway. The focus is amazing and all the other people look like they cant compare to the beauty he caught with this woman. You can find his work at Seamus Murphy.
