Image 1 is high contrast, while 2 and 3 are lower in contrast. The sky in image 1 is more saturated, but that is likely from the time of day that it is. Images 1 & 2 Are both in color, while image 3 is sepia toned. They all appear to have deep depth of fields, and may possibly be taken with a film camera. The focal point is center weighted in the first and second images, and off center in the third. The triangular property of the trees is mirrored in the first image with the reflection on the water, and in the part of the ground he chose to leave at the bottom of the frame in image two.
This whole series documents the intersection of people and their world. The first gives a feeling of the world untouched by us. The second portrays possibly our destructive nature as humans against our world, but it could also be naturally occurring. The third is possibly a juxtaposition of our world next to nature, or coinciding with it. From the shadows on the wall, I can see that there is another bush next to the one pictured, both of them possibly part of a row of bushes that line the side of the building. This shows our determination to be dominant over nature.
I enjoy that Jude didn't just shoot all the images the same way, in similar lighting situations. I think
he accomplished establishing his intended juxtaposition well.
