Amanda Charchian
Amanda Charchian, who was trained as a painter, uses the female form to artistically represent her message. The subjects are posed. It looks like she is using long lens. Some photos have an open aperture while most of them have a very closed aperture. I would guess she is using a tripod since the photos are taken inside and the subjects are completely still, indicating at least 1/80 shutter speed (in my opinion, there would be shake from the subjects' small movements if it were anything less). The quality of the images makes me think they are probably ISO 200 or somewhere near there, made possible by using a tripod.
"The series, as with the other images the artist will showcase at Pheromone Hotbox at Stephen Kasher Gallery, is a foray into the feminine subconscious, a celebration of both the visible and ineffable elements that conjure the sensations and meanings that we often associate with womanhood."
I love the use of the green background with the red hair. They complement each other perfectly. The use of the female body is lovely, definitely reminding me of nude paintings. It is not surprising that that was what the photographer was trained in.
