Walter Rothwell was born with a technical challenge when it comes to photography. As a child, he was partially blind and this caused him to have to adjust to seeing the world differently. Even with this impairment, he is still able to create wonderful images. His photos ranges from calm to rapid atmospheres.
In his photos, you can see that he uses a lot of contrast. Through his eyes, darkness was shown, and that is shown in his work. Its almost as if you are looking thought his eyes. In many of his photos, you can see that he waits for that decisive moment. It can be something as simple as waiting on the right person to walk by, or simply having the camera in the right place at the right time. One might also say that he traveled to places where he was bound to make a photograph.
Rothwell has many series in his work and even though they have different aspects, you can tell they are all made by him. He went to places where other people had deformities and even played with the contrast of their skin. Although he has now has no sight in his left eye, he is still taking advantage of all the opportunities photography has to offer.
