Robert Lamb weekly post 10

Don Smith is an American Photographer and book writer, who started his carrier with sports photography, as a contract photographer for Sports Illustrated now. Also he work has been published in a variety of different publications worldwide.  He mainly deals with landscape photography, which is also what he teaches for workshops across the country. As for his camera equipment he uses he Canon 1DMKIV, 1DX, and 5DMKIII.  He dose also use filters, flashes, multiple lenses and a tripod.  Quoted by Smith, “My inspiration is fed by just simply being in nature and allowing it to seep into my soul” (interestingphotographers.com). From this statement I can only assume that he waits until he can develop some kind of deeper connection before he even tries to make a photograph.

In the three landscape images above Smith conveys a sense of surrealism. I can’t say what he does exactly to capture these pictures, but they are all phenomenal images that hold a since of magic and in some cases almost look fake. One example of this would be the first image of the canon with falling clouds while lightning is striking. I for one defiantly would like to know what it took to make this image happen, so that I may even apply it to something in the future. Throughout his portfolio his work ranges from classic sunset landscapes to images that don’t even look of this earth. I can only assume that taking amazing images such as these takes a lot of time and dedication, but Don Smith has proven that it can be worth it.

Mary Morris' Weekly Post

Badalian has been around art his entire life since his parents are both painters. He moved from Armenia to Belgium when he was 9. Around this time, he started to grow a strong interest in art and photography. Badalian has a very high level of artistic talent. Along with photography, he also draws, writes, records music, and makes video. The range of talent that this artist has is nearly impossible for most people to achieve.
The three photographs above are from his series titled "Insanity." It is composed of multiple exposure shots to create a haunting composition. Each photograph in this series is black and white with a careful attention to lighting. Perhaps the decision to make these pictures black and white was to take away from the actual people in the images. Instead, we can look at them and relate the feeling that is conveyed to the feeling we may have within ourselves.

Dad's Tattoos, Newborn Lifestyle Photography
"I don't really care about cameras, I like to tell stories about people"...Okay I don't know about you but that made me fall in love with her as an artist. Maggie is a documentary photographer is Washington DC. She Immerges herself in new projects all of the time. she is currently working on a project titled "Popwed".

I appreciate the amount of light in her pictures. She is somehow able to capture moments for people in an epic way. In the first picture just admire what she does with the light. Some people believe that white doesn't photograph well-well in this photo it looks lovely. The different rich colors help out a lot. The brown in the dog, etc. She seems to have the same themes in her pictures. Like the same feeling in relation to light and color.

Guillermo Cervera

Guillermo Cervera is a Spanish photojournalist who travels the world photographing conflict. He captures war, violence, and controversy. While these photos are strange, and don't portray war, he captures the cities where there is conflict. His ability to see the beauty in the daily scenes we see is unique.

I found it interesting that Cervera travels to the heart of war to share pictures of these places with the world. It challenges me personally to venture into places I'm not comfortable to find art.

Patrick Demarchelier

Patrick Demarchelier is a well known french photographer that mainly shots fashion covers since the late 1970s. His work has been published in magazines such as Vogue, Glamour, and Rolling Stone. Demarchelier has photographed many big name celebrities over the years and has done many international advertising campaigns for many high end companies, such as TAG Heuer, Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein and many more. Patrick Delmarchelier is well-known by his colleagues those he works with for his kindness and patience.
Kindness and patience are two qualities that are best to have as a photographer in my book. Because  it takes more than you think to get that picture that you think is perfect. You need to have patience to deal with those people that aren't familiar with the ins and out of photography and what it really takes to make a good picture. I admire these photos above and how they have a sense of elegance to them. Especially the one with the bull. I can only imagine how duficult that would be to get the bull to stay laying down and posing for the picture. It takes a sense of patience to get a wonderful picture like that.

Franceso Scavulla

Franceso Scavulla was born and raised in Staten Island, New York City, NY. Mr Scavullo began to pursue his love with images of beauty by taking photos of his sister with his father’s camera. Mr. Scavullo was an American fashion photographer best known for his work on the covers of Cosmopolitan and his celebrity portraits. Francesco Scavullo passed away Tuesday, January 6th, 2004. He was 82 years old.
Francesco is known for his enamel on canvas photo silkscreens, portraits and still life’s. Mr. Scavullo’s photos are mesmerizing! He vividly captures incredible photos! The first image is a picture of a brunette haired women, I like this photo because the colors are so simple yet the models blue eyes really pop! The second image is of a woman and child. I like this photo because even though it is a black and white image, the lighting in the photo adds a great touch. The third image is actually a photo cover for one of the books Mr. Scavullo wrote. I like this image because the lighting and the use of color work amazing together.
