Catherine Meadows Weekly Post #9

Recently Richard's work showed up on my Facebook news feed. Someone posted a link for his work entitled "Touching Strangers". For this project, Richard took two complete strangers off of the street and asked them to pose together. His goal was to have them pose as if they were really close with each other and actually knew each other. The result turned out beautifully. This project alone made Richard become somewhat famous. People loved the concept of it and were very impressed with how well some of the pictures turned out. The way Richard had them pose made it very believable that the strangers were actually very close with each other. One thing I really liked about the way he took most of his pictures was how he had each couple stand in the dead center of the frame. Usually pictures with the subject in the center are seen as boring but in this case I think it has the opposite effect. I also liked the way that he blurred the background a little bit to help make the people stand out more.
