Michael Watts weekly post #8

Matthew Albanese is a special effects photographer from New Jersey who specializes in recreating intricate landscape shots at a small scale.  He showed an interest in special effects and movie magic at a young age and from early on was creating small scenes out of toys and action figures to photograph.  Today Albanese has taken his passion to the next level and has created and photographed scenes in which it is near impossible to distinguish replica from reality.  Although his photos may be viewed as a bit of a novelty in some cases, i find it interesting what Albanese has been able to accomplish from the studio.  He has been able in many cases to capture a sense of awe inspiring vastness and evoke the same sort of emotion that can be found in nature, all from a small scale set in a a studio.
