Calah Jones Artist Post 7
1. Photojournalist Steve Winter uses a six-megapixel 18MP APS-C Canon Rebel T5i to photograph wildlife. This general-purpose camera with the help of other sensors and waterproof cameras help to capture different angles and closer perspectives of these creatures.
2. Winter's work includes pictures of most animals people wouldn't dare come close to. He captures exotic and wild animals like leopards, tigers, and cougars in their natural environments. Winter places cameras in hidden places to capture the animals in their natural habitat uninterrupted. Infrared beams are set up are set up where he wants the cats to be, once it breaks the beam, the image is taken. He has several "camera traps" set up for months to capture these amazing photos.
3. Winter's process is very intriguing. Instead of getting as close as he can to the animals, he plans ahead and puts them in populated environments to capture the moments as they go. I think this is very smart considering these types of animals aren't the kind to sit up and pose for the camera. I also love the quality of the images. The colors in each frame are very bold, making my eye capture the brightest of colors.
