Evan
Anderman is a social-landscape photographer who makes pictures from his
airplane. Most of his work are pictures of Eastern Colorado, deserts and
forests in Western United States, Antarctica, and Iceland. His airplane gives him a better advantage to
capture more of these landscapes.
Anderman’s goal is to portray these landscapes with more
optimism. This could be a challenge considering the damage humanity has
contributed to these landscapes. His images capture the beauty of the land as
well as the perspective of humans coexisting on the land.
I think Anderman has a very abstract approach in the message
he is trying to relay. Without researching more into his series In Plain Sight, I thought these images
were just cool, colorful, aerial views. They’re actually represent so much
more. Essentially it’s an eye-opener on how us humans and the earth should
attempt coexist without damaging each other.
