1) There is light and color contrast in Andrew Waits' photos, which make them more appealing. Since most of his photos are during the day, I would assume that he utilized a lower ISO. It is possible that he used an ISO around 100 since in most of his photos there seems to be an abundance of light. I believe he used a shutter speed around 1/60, with a aperture that is around f5.6. He would not need to widen his aperture, since there is so much natural light he can rely on. However, I do believe he used a wider aperture based on the shallow depth of field.
2) Andrew Waits explores the lives of those who live off the grid in his "photographic investigation", Boondock. In this series, Andrew Waits explores the community of people who choose to live in vehicles instead of houses. This projects challenges the idea of what qualifies as a home. By capturing individuals outside their homes, Andrew Waits is able to provide a brief glimpse into the lives of the people in this community.
3) I think the photos are beautiful and that Andrew Waits did a great job with capturing their lifestyle. I agree that home can come in many forms. This series makes me want to buy an RV in the near future. It seems like a liberating experience. The individuals that Andrew Waits photographed seem at peace. I believe that is the key to finding a home. It should be place where you are truly at peace with yourself.
