1. Elena Shumilova uses natural light to capture the interactions of pets and children. Each of these photos have a country home style setting during the winter. She most likely used a wider aperture for a shorter depth of field. She also might have used a lower ISO in order to get greater detail. I think she may have under exposed the images so that the sunlight does not out shine the child and pets.
2. Elena Shumilova is a Russian photographer that has a farm on the countryside of Russia with her sons. She also has many farm animals. Watching them interact is almost always her main goal. She seeks to capture the memories as well as the youthfulness and innocence of both the animal and child. She highlights what connections and playful interactions we loose sight of as we age.
3. I really enjoy all her images. The details and the unfocused backgrounds is what makes me continue to look further into the choices she made while taking these photos. I like that the subjects are never fully centered in the photo. I also like how the background and shadows enhance the vivid details of the memory she wanted to capture.
