Connor Woisard: Acacia Johnson Weekly Post

Technical Choices:
Acacia Johnson is a photographer who lives in Alaska and focuses on the different aspects of nature. Most of her photos are very dark and are in rich with dark powerful colors. Thinking how this relates to what we've been discussing in class, I would assume that she uses a low ISO speed and intentionally under exposes her photos. I believe she would also have to make a lot of adjustments in her post edit work flow.

Themes:
Johnson's focus seems to be the wildlife and rugged terrain that makes up Alaska's echo system. Another thing that seems evident as a theme is how she conveys the time when the regions sun light is limited. I believe this is where she finds her inspiration for displaying the dark rich colors discussed earlier. She also keys in on the solitude that comes along with living in a region that is very sparsely populated. This independence is greatly conveyed in the first photo.

Connection:
As someone who seems to alway find myself preferring the meter on the slightly underexposed side of things, I really enjoyed her work. I would be interested to see how she preserves things like image quality and sharpness in such a low light environment. I imagine this forces her as an artist to develop a set of skills that we do not have to rely on as often.
