Joshua Caudell - Weekly Post 3

This weeks Featured Artist:  Patrick Rochon and the Light Painting artwork.

1.)   Here is an interesting fact about light painting pictures.  Take Montreal Quebec Canada's very own Patrick Rochon.  Rochon has a habit of light painting with a DSLR camera and different coloured lights and sets the shutter to bulb mode and the smallest aperture and lowest ISO possible to get the right amount of light in the picture.  The pictures were taken from the sky and some from an overpass to create this unique piece of artwork with cars.  The cars used different types of lights to create this beautiful art work.

2.)   His intention was to get the best circles possible with light.  It can be very tricky to do so unless you know what you are doing.  No back drop was needed because of the ground and road ways that were in the picture.  Over all, the ground and road served much better for the look as well as the sky in the background in one of the pictures.

3.)   These are the best light painting pictures that I have ever seen.  This style of photography is not easy to achieve at all unless you know what you are doing.  Is this something that I would consider doing or something like it in the future?  The answer to that question is absolutely.  I would like to try it with the blood moons or traffic on a highway of some sort.  There was a purpose with these pictures and that purpose was to create awesome car lights moving in motion while the shutter is still open.
