Marshay Davis-Week Post #6-MARTIN PARR

                           MARTIN PARR

1.When Martin Parr first started taking photography seriously, he was using a 35mm Black and white film on Leica. The medium format on that was color film. He then switched to a 35mm color film with a Macro lens. He now shoots with a DSLR camera.
He also shot his series "street photography" with a videocamera for the BBC.

2.I believe Parrs conceptual and thematic intent pertaining to his photos is to capture reality in a vehement way. His entire approach to his images is finding the "extraordinary, in the ordinary". His main subjects are random people living their everyday lives. For example in one of his projects "Luxury" , Parr shows the excess of wealth in society through images. We often times focus on the poverty stricken , and don't pay attention to how excessively  wealthy some people are. Its a problem. Instead of projecting just photos, The projects social class issues as well.

3.My response to Parrs Choices and intents is very interesting. You always look for unique things in photos. What sets these photos apart from others? His work is extremely original. Its also very powerful. His images convey messages. They also make you feel like you were the photographer. They're extremely personal, and have no shame. These qualities that they have are some things that i think are essential to producing prolific photos.
