These photos were taken by famous American photographer Robert Capa. A lot of his photographs are focused on wartime. In the first photograph their is a woman running with a dog for shelter during an air raid. Capa took advantage of the air raid and just laid out his camera on a tripod to catch the hysteria. In the second photo, there are several young children playing in the snow. The kicker in this photograph is that these kids are playing during a war! Capa probably stood on higher ground than the children so that he could include all of them in the shot. The third photo shows an American soldier treating a German soldier's wounds. Capa stood close to the medic and took the picture using a tripod.
In the first photo Capa wanted to show a sense of chaos and panic. and he did this by snapping a picture of a woman running to shelter. The second photo shows that Capa wanted to express a lighter side of war; even though these children are in danger of losing their lives at any moment, they still act like carefree children. Capa shows in the third photo that even when there is bloodshed and death, that humans are capable of compassion.
The first photo makes me feel that this woman is in a hurry for a good reason. At first glance it seems like she is playing with the dog. But then you notice that she's not really looking at the dog. The second photo reminds me of when I was a child, and that when something as big and daunting as war was going on, I remember that I really didn't care; I was stuck in my own little world. The third photo gives me hope; hope that one day we will all be free from the throes of war and can live peacefully as a species.
