Clarissa Stanley - Weekly Artist Post 10

Alejandro Durán

1. It is unclear what kind of camera Duran is using. More than likely a digital camera with the capability of producing great color contrast and a great depth of field. It is clear that the trash, plastic and glass is purposefully placed with in the landscape to blend and that the photographer has gone to great lengths to ensure that the landscape stays as natural as it can with an absence of people or other non related objects.
2. It is clear that the plastic is staged with in the landscape and made to look as if it blends in, the first picture looks as if the plastic tops are to be rocks in a hole or water in a hole, the second is made to look as if the plastic or trash is an extension of the crashing waves and in the last it is staged to look like the light bulbs are to be pebbles or shells being washed up on sand.
3. I like this kind of art that brings awareness on an issue that needs to be addresses such as the treatment of nature. I find it interesting that it takes him so long to stage and photograph but appreciate the investigative nature of his work.
