Robert Frank took all of his photographs in black and white because it was during the summer of 1958 in France, before color photography was invented. He focuses on taking candid pictures of people moving about the city. All of his photos are taken from a distance and during the day. All of his photographs are center weighed.
The first photo shows a hand holding a cigarette with cars stopped in the background, showing how he is stuck in traffic. The second photo portrays an african american man, dressed nicely, is leaning on the inside of a empty truck. The man looks bored with his life. The third photo shows a little boy running into the street where cars are coming. This photo shows how adolescence is all about not worrying and having fun while you can, before adult hood hits you.
I admire Robert Frank's photographs because he takes them while out on the town at random, instead of the scene being posed. All of his photos come out successful because of the content and dark contrast between the white and black due to the lighting at that time of day. He shows how many men go out around town and do something with their lives.
