Megan Wingfield- Artist Post 9

William Woodard uses light to his advantage when he's choosing how to take a photograph. He does a mixture of day and night scenes and all of them seem to turn out with perfect quality, lighting and color. William captures real life moments of people and places all around the world. His subjects are all center-weighed and all of his pictures are taken outside. William stands farther away from the scene he's trying to capture in order to get the full picture of what he wants to display.

In the first photo my eyes are being drawn to the bright lights that are protruding from the city buildings in the distance resulting in blurry bright colors being smeared across the the rippled water. The second photo includes bright piercing lights shining over puddles on the cobblestone in front of a colorful oriental building. In the third photo I mainly concentrate on the mountains in the background because the white and black compliment themselves causing them to stand out the most. Also my eye is drawn to the water because it has the reflection of the mountains and sky which make the photo more interesting for the viewer.

William takes different photographs from all around the world in order to bring people to the realization that theres more to the world then we ourselves see. He wants to encourage people to go different places around the world and explore like he does. Woodard's work is very appealing to me because he does not take ordinary photos that every artist takes. He puts a lot of effort into all of his work and most likely searches places all around the world that he thinks are worth taking a picture of just so he can share it with the rest of the world.
