Rachel Boillot
These photograph's are from an album and place called Cloud City. It is Leadville that became a quintessential mining boom town in the 19th century Colorado. In 1893 the Sherman Act left some of America's first millionaires bankrupt. Rachel felt compelled to explore this town which seemed to be so interwoven with the American dream, but she said she didn't find any answers to her dreams while she was there.
I like how in the first and last pictures posted she chose to take photographs of homes with fences in the yard as well as some type of shrub or plants around it. I like how the fog or "clouds" are captured in the third photograph as well as the red wagon which make it looks so vintage and almost makes the photograph come all together with the cloudy, Victorian house and red wagon. I also like how she chose to include the dog in the first laying there on the sidewalk behind the persons gate. I also like how the people in the first photo have artwork on their home which almost matches the colors of the purple flowers that line up with the fencing posts.
In the second photograph she chose to do something different. It almost seems like she didn't give the camera a chance to zoom in through the window as she caught the mirroring image of the shimmering building behind it capturing almost two perfect pictures into one making it confusing to look at first. She made me think of trying to do this with my camera and trying new things as well as to mess with the exposure timing with the camera as well like she chose to use in the third image to capture the foggy clouds.
