Kelsy Gossett‘s "Wake Up" series is color pictures of people Grossett thinks are in a vulnerable state by taking pictures when they are waking up or sleeping.  She takes pictures of her subjects in their most vulnerable settings trying to show they're emotions as they realize they're being photographed. All of the pictures are in color.

She says that capturing the moment is fleeting.  That the bond between people is special.  “Inhabiting this intimate space with people allows me to document them just as they are, with guards down and insecurities at bay.” (Gossett)  The pictures have the people lazily waking up holding each other and in whatever they would wear for pajamas with they're hair messed up and just getting to the awake pose.

That is the problem I have with these.  These pictures look very posed.  If you take a look at the others on her site, allot of these don't look vulnerable at all rather I see people faking the emotion and posing for the camera as directed by the photographer.  These are also a little bit too staged in the back ground.  Some of the items look placed in the pictures.  This is just an opinion and I'm sure some of them are genuine emotions but they just don't feel that way in these.
