These Photographs were taken by the Transylvanian photographer Brassai. He took the name "Brassai" after the name of his native town Brasso. He used a Voigtlander 6.5 cm x 9cm with a Heliar f/4.5 lens. The first photo is of a man with a stern look on his face. Brassai probably asked the man to pose the sternest way he possibly could. The second photo is of a man holding a God-knows-what in his hand and giving it a puzzled and jarred look. Brassai stood about 6 feet away from the man and snapped the photo. The third photo is of a dark, and dreary street, probably in some eastern European town. He probably took the photo with a wide angle lens to capture all ambient light and buildings.

The first photograph shows a kind of sternness that a father might give. Like when a child misbehaved in school and the father shows some mild disappointment, but also patience and understanding. The second photo tends to give off a sense of comedy. The man holding an outlandish sculpture of some kind and then giving it a very surprised look shows what all people might do in this situation. The third photo shows a very dark, very spooky street lit by only street lamps. This might give the audience some spark of fear or depression.

The first photo makes me feel as though the man has gone through a lot of hardship and will continue to go through hardship, but still gives off that determined, fatherly, patient look; as if everything is going to be alright. This may give the audience some sense of hope and may inspire perseverance to endure daily hardship. The second photo makes me feel as though I were a child again watching reruns of The Three Stooges show. The man makes me feel as if he is going on a whimsical misadventure. The third and final photo, makes me feel uncomfortable because of how dark and desolate the town is. Despite this, the photograph gives me a certain excitement or thrill; as if I am to journey into the unknown and the dangers of life.
