1) He uses a Voigtlander Brilliant camera. Seems to be only a few feet from his subjects. Images are saturated in color and light. He takes pictures of socially and politically charged scenes. His camera is film.
2) The first image is of a women of color most likely holding the child of the white women sitting next to her. Parks appears to be shooting over his shoulder at the two. The second image is of children of color standing behind a fence looking onto a park with a carnival being set up by white people. The third image is of people of color standing in line for water at a fountain but only drinking from a fountain most likely labeled for colored only.
3)I chose these images for their subject matter. As a mixed black women I have experience social injustice and segregation, not in extreme forms as these images but the same injustice all the same. The images really speak volumes and I like that the photographer is not afraid to show these subjects especially in the time that he took these pictures.
