Nacio Jan Brown takes all of his photographs from a frontal point of view with his subjects centered in the scene. These photographs were taken in between 1969 to 1973. He takes candid photos of people on the street. They are also all in black and white. Nacio takes his pictures relatively close to his subjects.
Nacio takes photos of people who look like they are in the lower class and are trying to make it by. The first photo looks as if they are trying to sell small trinkets that they made themselves off of a blanket. The two people stare straight into the camera with straight cold faces. The second photo shows a young boy on the street singing for money. The third photo shows people standing around a man playing a guitar on the street.
All of his subjects seem free spirited which is something I really like about all of his photographs. I also admire how all of his scenes are not staged and how they are of artistic people showing their talents off such as singing, playing the guitar and selling homemade crafts. The fact that they are black and white makes the viewer concentrate on what is going on in the photo and the subjects rather than looking at all the contrasting colors.
