Michael Watts Weekly Blog Post #5

Troy Paiva is an american photographer who has been photographing abandoned Americana since 1989.  He has won many awards for his photos and documentaries and has had his work featured in countless books, tv shows, and publicatoins.  Troy takes night photos of different abandoned establishments and junkyards that represent classic America.  He is known for using different colored lights and gels to paint his subjects with light during the long exposures.  The result is an errie effect that brings to life these abandoned objects.

I was drawn to troys work because i have a strong interest in night photography and have always had a love for old cars and any sort of classic americana.  The photos that troy takes combines both of these things in an extraordinary way that are a pleasure to look at.
