Nikkia Logan Artist Post 6

Mirko Saviane

Mirko Saviane is an Italian photographer who has taken some amazing images in Burano, Italy. Saviane uses small and large aperture as well as a fast shutter speed. Some of his pictures are bright with shadows and a major light source where others have dark black shadows. He uses high and low contrast to intensify his images. He limits his images with one or two figures inside the picture plane.
One common feature in his photography is a deep depth of field.

Saviane's work includes different angles from a variety of perspectives. His conceptual ideas emphasizes minimalism because of the limited figures in the picture plane. The angles and shadows that he creates by light and perspective play with form and shape. He plays with the relationship with human form and architectural form with people and buildings. The shadows from architecture and people have a geometric versus organic effect.

I like the way Mirko Saviane's work has a less is more concept. According to Ellyn Kail's article on Mirko Saviene, he stays away from making pictures of a large group of people. Large amounts of people and movement can create chaos depending on the artist. The pop of color in his images  resonates with the fun side of my personality. While the black and white photographs coincide with my logical and simplistic ideals. I find Saviene's work to be very inspirational in finding the beauty in every day normalities.
