Robert Frank
1. Robert Frank the Americans was a series that was turned in to a book of still shot all black and white pictures of every day America in 1958. It showed the bitter sweet reality that really was America. The photos are generally taken straight forward and the angles are crisp to help us get a general feeling of the every day activity that was going on.
2. The intent of Robert Frank was to show the realities of the American every day life in the late 1950's. Back when racism was still peaked, Robert Frank took straight forward still shots so you could feel like you were there. Although some people had a more picturesque ideal of the American way Robert Frank shed some light on the harsh realities of it.
3. Being a part of a minority (Jewish) this makes me feel somewhat thankful to be born in another generation/ another time. With how these straightforward shots are taken it makes me feel weary in a way and sets me off, just knowing that all of these things (The series) happened right here, or just across the street, or even in every state. A separation of people due to something as menial as skin color just isn't acceptable and it's disgusting, but someone (Robert Frank) had to shed some light on the reality.
