Sophie Gamand uses portraits of dogs, in this case pitbulls in an elegant and classic way.
She uses a certain background depending on the color of the dog. In some of her pictures she has put flower crowns on the animals. The background might have been blurred out to focus on the center.
In the article from Ellyn Kail, the artist made this photoshoot for the adoption of different animals from a shelter. The one breed of dogs that get killed more than any other are pitbulls. They simply get killed because of stereotypes and do not get treated as well as the rest. Sophie Gamand creates the oxymoron for society. She made dazzling portraits of pitbulls by making flower crowns for them in the picture to put the vicious stereotype to rest.
I believe that Sophie Gamand's intention was to get people to understand the certain myths about these stereotypes that society has created about pitbulls. Her photography shined a light on the beauty and the softness of pitbulls in general as a living creature and kind animal. The innocence she created by posing these dogs and giving them a touch of glitter made a tremendous impact.
