1) Fred Herzog took photos in color because he
didn’t have the time or money to wait around in a darkroom for pictures to
develop. After moving from Germany to Vancouver, Canada he took thousands of
color photographs. He mainly used a Kodachrome ISO10. His profession was a
medical photographer by day, and street photographer during his free time.
2) The four photographs above are from one of
Herzog’s exhibitions called “Color”. Each image has a central image which draws
the viewer’s eye to the main object. In the first image there are six boys
sitting on top of the roof, and two standing in front of the house. Both boys
at the bottom seem a bit left out of the gathering on top of the house. In the
second image sits a fisherman in front of a Chinese business. The newspapers in
front of him stand out against the rest of the image. In the third image is a
vertical image of old stairs and shadows. Lastly, is what appears to be a
forgotten car parked beneath laundry lines in an alleyway.
3) His images of the city show how unique and
colorful the city in which he lives in can be. From fisherman, to stairs, and
cars in alleyways there is something interesting about each of his photos. I
enjoy the vibrancy of the colors and how he chooses to show the city as it is.
