1. Pierre Defaix's project 2224 Kolkata uses 2 images. They seem very in the moment, a sense of realism. He utilizes sunlight and not much artificial lighting. The color contrasts between the pictures shows his professionalism behind the camera.
2. There are two pictures in one image. On one side there is a person, and next to them is their environment. Most of the time you the person from behind, their faces not shown. The pictures that show their environments are close ups. There seems to be some sort of connection between the two images. The man's back has the same color as tree roots. It has a very "in the moment" feel to it as if Defaix took the pictures of environments as he was passing through.
3. The pictures strike me as somewhat voyeuristic. The people are captures behind their backs. You do not know if they were aware that were being photographed, I guess I just wanted to see their faces. I wanted to see their facial expressions. The environment pictures seem very focused. As beautiful as they are, they can be a bit suffocating.
