1. Walter Iooss is an artist that I should of known the name of a long time ago. Iooss is an American sports photographer who has had a lens on almost every great athlete from the late 20th and early 21st centuries. From Frazier to Jordan, and even Ricky Fowler in 2015, he has been catching great shots of athletes during game time. Majority of the older photos were caught with a Canon F1 or a Canon New f1.
2. There wasn't much theme in Iooss' photos other than capturing the moment of an athlete's greatness. In each photo you can seethe determination of the subject. In the first photo, as Dwight Clark makes that catch on a Dallas defender you can feel the hopes of the 49ers fan arise. As I read a interview about this particular photo, this was the turning point for a spectacular 49ers season. In the second photo you can see every ounce of intensity in Ali's face and body as he lands a punch. The photo was published in black and white, singling out the two characters as if they weren't in a packed venue. And even in the last photo with the dim lit picture plane, the moment is caught as Michael Jordan puts one of his nasty moves on a defender. Not only does it show the talent of the athletes, but the relationship that the photographer has with the athletes too, being able to catch the unreal shots and get one on ones with the greats.
3. I was delighted when I realized the artist that I stumbled upon. I have been seeing his work in almost every sports illustrated issue as well as Jordan and Nike commercials. Now that I now his name I can freely look him up and do independent research and find other work that he has done. I'm not too into photographer but when it relates to sports it gets a bit interesting. Putting into play how the artist got the shot, the troubles that they have to go to and the perks that they receive for getting such a nice shot.
