Brandon Baker Artist Post 2

Sage Sohier

I chose to do another post on a project by the artist Sage Sohier. I chose this project because it is personally relatable. The project is named "Almost Grown" and shows the dynamics of multiple families as the children grown into adults. Each photo was taken in color. I was unable to find the camera used for each photo, even after searching the website linked above. The photos show the excitement(and sometimes concern) of growing teenagers ready to leap from their parent's nest. The first photo is of a young boy and his mother who seems to be just visiting his room. The expression on his face as well as his posture suggests that he may believe his guardian is becoming unnecessary or that he is "grown" as parents would say these days. The second photo shows the concern on a father's face as he contemplates his baby girl out in the real world. Her facial expression suggests that he is being a bit too cautious. In the last photo the tables seem to have turned. The teen now seems concerned for his growing mother as he grows older as well. I can relate to that dilemma, having an older single mother and trying to get on my own two feet as well. Shower does a great job in conveying the many dynamics of parent child relationships as the child gets older and becomes an adult.
